My father was a mechanical engineer, and I had access to his drafting supplies. In my early 20’s, I worked for about 7 years as a picture framer. My boss built a thriving business selling lithographs, fine art prints, and general framing. He dealt specifically though not exclusively, with two women who would sell art to corporations and then bring in 20 to 30 works that they promised to have framed in a week. After doing one of these mammoth jobs, they gave me a set of acrylics as a gift. I liked Vaserely, Escher, Dali and Klimt from seeing reproductions come through the gallery, so I went off. I consider my art to be Neo Geo, but I’m sure most people would not agree. Plus, I try different styles as the mood hits me. In “Reincarnation,” I tried, somewhat abysmally, to emulate Escher. Although I didn’t get his realism very well, the format lent itself perfectly to the idea of a never-ending upward climb through many lifetimes. There is basically a story with all my work ( including how the “Proposal” became “Divorce” thanks to Eddie the drunk…lol), and I would be glad to write to you if you are interested in my website. My current painting is called “Dragon Breath” and will be finished hopefully by next year, the year of the Dragon. I will be posting some smaller works, which will be for sale at a moderate price. These will not be multiple-run lithos but one-of-a-kind works.
